UTSA Freshman Learn About Good Eats
We love Freshman! No matter where they choose to achieve their higher education, First Years are ready to take the world by storm and burritos with both hands. In San Antonio this past August, Freebirds jumped in for UTSA Roadrunner Days to help new students get acquainted with one another, the goodness of college life, and scrumptious burritos from Freebirds. Freshman are showing their appreciation. In 1993, Roadrunner Camp had 65 students. - today, more than 250. YUM!

I Scream, You Scream!
There is no better sweet treat during the sweltering summer days of Texas than ice cream. Thousands of Austinites agree. We all screamed for ice cream during the First Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival that was held in Waterlook Park last August. We also crave burritos, so Freebirds joined festival presenters Amplify Credit Union and Whole Foods Market to raise money for the Austin Children's Shelter, Habibis Hutch, La Leche and Lifeworks. So said Chris Cottam, the winner of the festival’s ice cream eating contest, “That was fun! I’ve been waiting for this ever since I first heard about ice cream.”

So Much More of a Good Thing
You may have heard – It was in all the news! This past summer, Tavistock Restaurants acquired Freebirds with plans for a more aggressive expansion strategy. Before we know it, we’ll be able to eat the best burrito on the planet while traveling outside Texas. YAY for us!!

Award Winnings Ads 2nd Year in a Row
It's all about you! - Nation's Restaurant News likes Freebirds Fanatics almost as much as we do. Last year they gave us an award for the Kate and Rita ad. We won again! This year the ad was about Jason, a long-time Freebirds fanatic and two of his buddies that camped out on the sidewalk in front of the Lubbock store the night before it opened in order to be that store's first customers. First of all, we may win awards because of our unconventional ad campaigns, but you are the reason for wins. It's your fanaticisms that are remarkable. We're simply the carriers of the message. So - our hats off to you, our loyal customers, for coming up with such antics that when copied and depicted in foil characters they become inspiring and award winning. You are all winners to us!
